GREENWOOD VILLAGE, CO, November 8, 2004 – Micromedex, a part of The Thomson Corporation (NYSE:TOC; TSC: TOC), the leader in information solutions for scientific and healthcare professionals, and TheraDoc, Inc., a medical informatics company specializing in expert clinical decision-support solutions, today announced a partnership. The agreement makes Micromedex clinical knowledge resources available to clinicians within TheraDoc applications

Clinicians will now get real-time access to Micromedex drug and disease information within TheraDoc's decision-support solutions. The partnership enables clinicians to develop better therapeutic treatment recommendations in the context of their patient's condition. For example, clinicians are connected within their workflow to summarized drug information as well as instant access to detailed, evidence-based clinical knowledge.

"The inclusion of objective, comprehensive clinical knowledge resources from Micromedex further enhances our ability to provide clinicians the resources they need to make better-informed, more appropriate therapeutic treatment decisions," said TheraDoc president and CEO, Stanley Pestotnik. "Through integration with a hospital's health information and ancillary computer systems, TheraDoc technology provides the connectivity between the growing volume of data that hospitals are collecting electronically on their patients and the Micromedex wealth of evidence-based medical knowledge."

Jay Katzen, vice president of marketing and product development at Thomson Micromedex, said, "We're pleased to be partnering with TheraDoc to augment their recommendations with actionable clinical intelligence, resulting in the highest standard of care. Together, we give clinicians a single point of access to reliable decision-support tools and help them to improve patient outcomes."

TheraDoc technology provides a unique knowledge solution with the 'Power to Reason.' The partnership between Micromedex and TheraDoc supports clinical decision-making by combining relevant patient information with standards-based clinical data, current medical knowledge, and epidemiological factors. The technology not only interprets records and alerts the appropriate clinician to patient and clinical situations requiring action, but also recommends patient-specific treatment options. The recommendations are based on current medical guidelines and evidence, at the time of care. With a wealth of information at their fingertips, clinicians make better-informed decisions that enhance the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.
