Jewish Hospital First in Kentucky to Enhance Patient Safety with TheraDoc's Clinical Decision-Support Software

Software Delivers Actionable Patient Information to Clinicians in Real-Time

SALT LAKE CITY, October 10, 2005 – TheraDoc®, Inc. (www.theradoc.com), a medical informatics company, is installing its expert clinical decision-support software at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, Ky. TheraDoc will integrate its software with the hospital's existing information systems to enable real-time monitoring of electronic medical records and automated delivery of actionable patient information and therapeutic recommendations. Renowned for using technology to enrich patient care, Jewish Hospital is the first in Kentucky to implement TheraDoc's software. This implementation is another step in the hospital's ongoing initiatives to improve patient outcomes, enhance infection control and ensure appropriate antibiotic stewardship.

Jewish Hospital joins a growing list of hospitals in 22 states that are utilizing TheraDoc's real-time solutions to improve clinical performance, lower healthcare costs and enable timelier and more-appropriate patient treatment. TheraDoc announced its newest client at the 43rd Annual Meeting of Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA) in San Francisco.

Stanley Pestotnik, TheraDoc's founder, president and CEO, said, "The award-winning Jewish Hospital is an innovative developer of cutting-edge healthcare advancements. Their decision to become the first hospital in Kentucky to install expert clinical decision-support software further demonstrates their commitment to advancing healthcare through technology and improving the quality, safety and efficiency of patient care."

Jewish Hospital's Vice President of Medical Affairs Dr. Lynn Simon notes, "We were looking for a system that could take a large amount of patient data and present it as actionable information that clinicians could use to address the immediate needs of individual patients." She states further, " After investing a year in evaluating decision-support systems, we found that TheraDoc's powerful, real-time system met our objectives to enhance infection control and achieve the quickest, most-effective treatments and interventions."

Vice President and CIO of Jewish Hospital, David C. Pecoraro, agreed. "TheraDoc's integration of the hospital's disparate information systems will allow us to move from a retrospective review to a proactive approach on infection management and antibiotic therapies. We expect the benefits to include improved treatment protocols and patient care, a reduction in admissions overall and in length-of-stay for ventilator patients in particular, all of which will lower costs."

TheraDoc is implementing its expert system platform (ESP) and suite of clinical decision-support software at Jewish Hospital, including Antibiotic Assistant™, Clinical Alerts Assistant and Infection Control Assistant™. TheraDoc's software is designed to streamline and accelerate the data collection process and enable immediate access to critical patient information. It automatically monitors, analyzes and interprets clinical data stored in ancillary information systems in a variety of departments, such as the pharmacy and radiology, in real-time. The software then transforms the data into meaningful, actionable patient information.

TheraDoc's intelligent alerting system provides timelier notification of adverse events and infectious disease occurrences. It delivers patient information, disease- and patient-specific therapeutic recommendations, and evidence-based medical knowledge to the most-appropriate clinicians, resulting in informed decision-making and timelier patient interventions.
